Communication and Computer Network
Introduction to Communication
The Romans used the Latin word communication when they meant "to make common,to share,or to impart"
Communication is the sharing of information or messages between two or more entities.
Why do we communicate?
I want to.....
1.Discuss some subject matter
2.Inform my abilities to another person
3.Get an appointment
4.Have a chat with my friend
5.Transfer a file
6.Send e-mails
7.SMS
Communication Protocols
You may be wondering how the computers send receive data across communication links. There must be some set of rules to instruct computer systems and devices as to how exactly data is to be transferred from one place to another.
For example, there are some rules and procedures to use a telephone network which leads to a sequence of activities such as pick up the phone, listen for a dial tone, dial number having a specific number of digits, wait for the phone to ring, and say hello.Similarly in data communication, some software defines the procedures and standards for the communication. The procedure of data transformation is commonly called protocol.A protocol is a set of rules that governs how information is delivered.
